In the everyday management of our lodge, we try our best to reduce our environmental impact at all levels.
We strive to reduce our energy needs (energy saving lamps, low consumption appliances, high performance insulations, rational heating policy, rational car use policy, etc).
We work with principally “clean” energies: the majority of the energy we consume is either generated on site or comes from renewable sources. (Our solar thermal installation covers the majority of our hot water and heating needs year round; our solar grid-connected PV system allows us to buy the and sell green electricity; a high performance wood burning fireplace insert helps cover additional heating needs). For more details, consult the “Solar” section.
We work to reduce water consumption (low flow shower heads and faucets throughout the inn, rational use of dishes and glasses during meal service, rational gardening and pool management policies).
We strive to reduce the environmental impact of the food we serve (fresh products are sourced locally; canned and dry goods come exclusively from organic producers or wholesalers).
We try to reduce the volume of trash we produce (product selection favors minimal packaging whenever possible; organic material is composted; glass, plastics and paper are recycled).
We try to pollute the environment as little as possible (biodegradable cleaning products, rational car use policy, treatment of the pool water using salt and electrolysis).
We work to raise consciousness of environmental issues facing our society (school visits and work camps, cooperation with public administrations, conversations with our guests).
